The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) has received recognition in the International Beautiful Buildings Green Apple Awards 2022 organized by the Green Organization, an international non-profit environment group.

NMoQ received the award under the Public Building category for its sustainability best practices including the museum's extensive green features, from planning and design through to construction management and building operations. The Beautiful Buildings Green Apple Awards is a worldwide campaign to show appreciation for sustainable buildings and to promote positive contributions made to the built environment.

Since its unveiling in 2019, NMoQ has received several sustainability accolades, becoming the first national museum in the world to receive both a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold and a 4 Star GSAS (Global Sustainability Assessment System) sustainability rating. LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Certifications from LEED are globally recognized symbols of sustainability achievements, while GSAS is the first performance-based system in the MENA region developed for rating green buildings and infrastructure.
