Motorists parking their vehicles at the five-storey parking lot behind the Ministry of Finance have described the place as unkempt and untidy. They complain that the multi-tier parking lot, built about a decade ago is not regularly maintained and is littered with animal excretion, urine-filled bottles and other human and urban waste. “This is an essential spot for those working at the government offices, banks, and souqs nearby. The place needs to be kept clean,” one daily visitor told Gulf Times. Others maintain the elevators have stopped working and as such pose difficulty to those who find a parking slot on the upper floors, while the staircase stinks with trash strewn around. “It is also not properly lit,” another motorist said. Old newspapers and fallen sign boards were also visible at the site. A security guard at the 600-slot parking area said: “The Baladiya (municipality) people come every now and then. They don’t have a fixed schedule.” http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=307298&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
