More than 3,000 people attended the final concerts of the British Schools of the Middle East (BSME) Music Festival 2011, hosted by Al Khor International School on Sunday. As many as 220 students from 11 schools in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Egypt took part in the event. The participants, aged 10-18, spent all weekend rehearsing their instruments and singing in preparation for two concerts on Sunday. More than 70 teachers and student helpers were on hand to ensure that the music was rehearsed to a high standard and that fun was had by all. The students also found time to have fun at the beach and learn a new skill at the dance and music workshops, including the first performance on the school’s new Indonesian Gamelan set.
