On 19 January 2024, the Ministry of Transportation released a public warning on its social media platforms. The Ministry has warned the public of fake and fraudulent messages issued in its name, delivered via e-mail, in which the public is invited to receive packages in exchange for payments via credit or bank cards through a link.
The following is an example of the message released by the Ministry:
"Our dear customer, You have a package awaiting payment. Unfortunately, we cannot confirm your payment yet. Please ensure payment of the shipping fee (QR 12.99) via the link below. Once the payment process is completed, you will be able to receive it the following morning. The payment link will only be available for 24 hours. To proceed, click here."
The Ministry calls on the public not to deal with these kinds of fraudulent e-mails, as the Ministry does not send any packages to the public.
