MEEZA recently carried out its annual outreach program to raise awareness on breast cancer - the most common type of cancer among women in the Arab world. The annual awareness program – held in October to coincide with the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month – marked the fourth year of MEEZA’S support and commitment to the fight against breast cancer.

The month-long program, which saw MEEZA reaching out to the public to improve their understanding of breast cancer risk factors while highlighting the importance of early detection, was aimed at connecting community members with essential resources that will lead to the early detection, prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

As part of the awareness campaign, MEEZA also hosted its Pink Ribbon Day on the 29^th of October where employees were encouraged to wear pink attire including a pink ribbon which is most commonly associated with breast cancer awareness.

“MEEZA has been supporting the fight against breast cancer for several years now, and our annual campaign to raise awareness on the disease today forms a crucial component of our Corporate Social Responsibility program,” said Ghada Philip El Rassi, CEO of MEEZA. “MEEZA’s commitment to the cause of breast cancer awareness goes beyond internal activations; we also involve ourselves in community mobilization efforts and our employees are encouraged to act as ambassadors in the battle against breast cancer by spreading the message of early detection among different segments of society.”

The MEEZA CEO added, “We strongly believe that educating the society on risk factors and arming them with information that can potentially be lifesaving is crucial to combating breast cancer – especially here in Qatar and the Middle East where breast cancer can develop at a younger age compared to Western countries.”
