The Amiri Diwan and The White House on 20 August 2021 released an official statement with respect to the telephone conversation between H.H. the Amir and H.E. US President Joe Biden.

The call dealt with reviewing developments in the region, particularly the latest developments in Afghanistan. The two sides stressed on the importance of protecting civilians, the peaceful transition of power, and de-escalating tensions towards a comprehensive political solution that guarantees security and stability to benefit the Afghan people.

H.E. the US President expressed his thanks to H.H. the Amir for the State of Qatar's contribution to the evacuation of civilians and the country's efforts in the peace process in Afghanistan. As per the White House statement, the US President noted that this is the largest airlift of people in history and that it would not have been possible without the early support from Qatar to facilitate the transfer of thousands of people daily.

The call also dealt with the strategic bilateral relations between the two countries and the scope for expanding and enhancing them.
