Mini Beach Olympic Games organised by InterContinental Doha is set to begin today at the InterContinental. Eight major hotels, including Diplomatic Club will take part in the games.
The participating teams will be from Diplomatic Club, Four Seasons, La Cigale, Oryx Rotana, Renaissance, Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, W Hotel and the host InterContinental Doha.
The event which ends on April 14 will kick off with an opening ceremony today. The competition will be held in beach soccer, beach volleyball and swimming events. A 2-km run is also a part of the events on the schedule.
InterContinental Hotels Group is the official hotel provider of the forthcoming London Games and the Mini Beach Olympic Games is a part of its celebration of the quadrennial games, according to Asela Jayaweera, Recreation Manager at InterContinental Doha.
A special pool will be created in sea to hold the swimming events. The games will conclude with a grand ceremony on April 14.
