All Independent and semi-independent schools in Qatar will open for the new academic year — 2010-2011 — on September 19, a little more than a week after Eid Al Fitr. Most of the private schools here are also scheduled to reopen the same day. A ministerial decision issued by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, H E Saad bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, announced the academic calendar for day/ evening government educational institutions for the new academic year. The administrative staff of these schools is required to report for duty on September 19. Students are scheduled to resume classes on September 26, the Qatar News Agency reported yesterday. The Minister has also announced the calendar of the Independent Schools for the entire year. The spring vacation of all schools will be from February 13 (Sunday) to February 24 (Thursday), while the second semester will start on February 28 (Sunday).
