Ramadan is a special religious celebration observed by Muslims across the world. It’s a time for families and friends to form closer bonds and spread kindness and generosity.

People tend to come together during Iftar and Suhour gatherings, after breaking their fast. Some of these gatherings are with family or with friends, some are male or female only. It’s very common to embrace traditional and cultural values during Ramadan. This can be in the form of food, cultural nuances such as Garangao, and even clothing.

For women, fashion is an important cultural aspect of Ramadan and Eid. At family or all-female gatherings, women dress up in their respective cultural dress. In the Middle East, women usually wear kaftans or jalabiyas. Over time, the styles have evolved to keep up with the ever-changing fashion trends.

ILQ got in touch with three local fashion designers: Folak Designs, The Tangle Collection, and Maqdeem to find out more about what the trending Ramadan fashion is.

Folak Designs:

Folak’s designs are very modern, elegant, and feminine. Their kaftan designs use very neutral and sandy colors, with pops of vivid tones such as golds and bright blues. The patterns on Folak’s designs incorporate very Arabesque, floral, and geometric patterns.

The Tangle Collection:

The Tangle’s designs are simple, but sophisticated. You can find beautiful playsuits, kaftans, and classy jumpsuits. The Tangle’s designs are characterized by bright colors, tassels, lace, and subtle Arabesque patterns.

Maqdeem:

Maqdeem’s designs are also simple. But the beauty of their designs lie in their simplicity. Maqdeem creates kaftans with bright colors and light material. They too use subtle floral patterns to adorn the hem or sleeves of each piece.
