Hyatt Plaza hosts deaf children for Garangao

Hyatt Plaza teamed up with The Qatar Centre of Social Cultural for the Deaf to organise Garangao celebrations at the shopping mall. Hundreds of children dressed up in colourful Garangao costumes (sodairy for boys and bokhnog and golden head accessories for girls) on the occasion. The celebration held at the Hyatt Plaza stage in the food court started with a short statement by Fuad Shaqadan, Senior Marketing Executive, welcoming all visitors on behalf of the Hyatt Plaza management. Then a special gift and appreciation letter were presented by a representative of The Qatar Centre of Social Cultural for the Deaf to the Hyatt Plaza management for holding the event. Special Garangao bags filled with nuts and candies were distributed to all the children, after which the children and adults went around Hyatt Plaza singing Garangao songs accompanied by a drummer who was brought in specially for this celebration. The Qtel and Commercial Bank outlets, the Pari gallery and orchestra distributed Garangao gift bags to all the children. This was followed by children’s games organised by Qatari actors Shuail Kuwari and Sara, who introduced different kind of activities prepared for the Garangao celebration. A lot of prizes were distributed to all the children during the programme. Feroze Moideen, General Manager of Hyatt Plaza, said, “Hyatt Plaza gets involved every year in Garangao and we always support the country’s culture and development through programmes, celebrations, events and activities organised at Hyatt Plaza.” “We believe it’s our obligation to make Qatari culture and heritage always live and not diluted, therefore we are ready to host and support any kind of event that serves the rich Qatari culture and heritage,” he added.
