HSBC and Waqif Art Centre have signed an agreement to renew the partnership between the two entities in the field of developing and promoting art in the local market. The new deal confirms the success of this programme in increasing the number of visitors to the centre and the interest shown by HSBC customers in last year.
Abdul Hakeem Mostafawi, CEO of HSBC Qatar and Tariq Al Jaidah, of Waqif Art Centre, signed the deal. HSBC’s cultural sponsorships have been developed around the theme of cultural exchange. As the world’s local bank, HSBC encourages and promotes the understanding of different cultures across the world, broadly covering two areas — events & exhibitions and people exchanges.
“Our commitment to the development of local talent is further extended and demonstrated in this partnership with Waqif Art Centre,” said Mostafawi. “We are extremely impressed with this establishment as local artists deserve the support and encouragement to display their works,” he added. “HSBC has been a great supporter of Waqif Art Center throughout its first year and has allowed it to host, curate, and produce many events ranging from art and design exhibitions to seminars, workshops, concerts and book publishing,” said Tariq Al Jaidah
