Yesterday the ILQ team visited Souq Waqif where the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has put up a giant photo frame as part of their competition for World Tourism Day (WTD).
Souq Waqif is one of eight locations where tourists and Doha residents can visit and capture a photo with Doha’s gorgeous background. Once captured, you can upload the image on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), with the hashtag #ShowcaseQatar, in order to enter into the competition.
The other seven locations are: Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque, Katara Cultural Village, Al Zubarah, Shiekh Faisal Bin Qasim Museum, Museum of Islamic Art, Aspire Zone, and the East-West/West-East by Richard Serra.
Souq Waqif is chosen as one of these locations because of its cultural and traditional vibrance. The Souq also exhibits a creative aesthetic that makes it super attractive, particularly in its old buildings and pathways, the clothing, spices, antiques, and decorative pieces that are always on display. It’s also always full of people, which just adds to the ambiance.
Head over to Souq Waqif today to #ShowcaseQatar, you can tag @ILQlive while you’re at it!
