Al Jazeera has announced the death of Hamza Dahdouh, son of Al Jazeera’s Gaza bureau chief Wael Al-Dahdouh, due to an Israeli air strike west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip.
According to Al Jazeera, 27-year-old photojournalist Hamza Dahdouh was killed when a missile directly hit the vehicle he was traveling in with colleague Mustafa Thuraya, who also passed away in the incident.
As per Al Jazeera, Hamza and his colleagues were doing fieldwork documenting the destruction in the aftermath of an overnight airstrike in a residential area near the road that connects Khan Younis with Rafah.
Wael Al-Dahdouh previously lost his wife, son, daughter, and grandson in an Israeli air raid in October 2023.
As of 7 January 2024, at least 22,722 people have been killed, including at least 9,600 children, and 58,166 wounded in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since 7 October 2023.
