Green Tent to focus on key issues THE human rights of citizens and expatriates, health hazards of energy drinks, common misconceptions about fasting, and Ramadan in the eyes of non-Muslims are some of the topics to be spotlighted at the Friends of the Environment Centre’s Green Tent during Ramadan. The Centre’s general secretary Yousuf al-Kazem told a press conference on Sunday that experts and officials will be invited to participate in the discussions. Al-Kazem urged people to attend the discussions, saying the issues selected were crucial to the public interest. The Green Tent, sponsored by the Qatar Petroleum, is one of the main events organised by the Friends of the Environment Centre. Mohamed al-Sirafi, a board member of the Centre, said today’s discussions would focus on misconceptions about fasting, while the health risks of some energy drinks would be highlighted tomorrow. “I wonder why we have not banned such drinks after their side effects have been scientifically proved. We will invite officials from the National Health Authority and the municipality to talk about the issue,” he said. The Centre would launch a website to carry reports of the discussions and to ensure greater interaction with the public, he added. GT If you ask me, people should be controlling their kids rather than needing the government to 'ban' redbull.
