The Minister of Labor of State of Qatar His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh bin Mubarak al Khulaifi, on Friday inaugurated The Grand Mall Hypermarket at the West End park, in Mesaimeer area next to Karwa headquarters. The event was graced by senior officials of Grand Mall and other dignitaries.
According to HE Abdullah bin Saleh bin Mubarak al Khulaifi, the State of Qatar welcomes all types of employment and the Ministry of Labour has agreement with 30 countries labour exporting countries. He said Qatar expect high numbers of migrant workers in the coming years, as a result of growth in Qatar and the large infrastructure projects being undertaken the country.
“We 're still moving in the policy of attracting labour from labour-exporting countries , especially with the huge investments that the State intends to pump in a large number of infrastructure projects over the next decade , a project that will cost billions of dollars,” added HE Abdullah bin Saleh bin Mubarak al Khulaifi.
On the role of the Ministry of Labour in solving problems faced by workers , the Minister said that there are various departments in the Ministry of Labor with authority to carry out labour inspection and law enforcement work and resolve outstanding disputes between workers and employers and all work in accordance with the national law and the Constitution
On his impression about the "West End Park ," the Minister said this kind commercial and recreational facility meets the needs of Qatari society, noting that it will address the requirements of the large diversified communities and migrant labourers in the country.
He called upon the Qatari private sector to invest more in this kind of business services and recreational as Qatar is an expansion phase and the population is increasing continuously.
Expressing his appreciation to Qatar Asset Management, the company that manages the West End Park, the Minister said project such as this fills an urgent need in the national economy, because it serves all segments of the society . He said the Ministry will offer all possible support for the establishment of such projects.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Qatar Asset Management Mr: Mana Ibrahim Al Mana in his remarks said that the third phase of the project opened in 6 months , which includes the " Grand Mall " , pointing out that there is a project parallel, which is expected to open next year, includes housing provision of labor and families that will accommodate about 70 thousand people.
The Chairman of Qatar Asset Management further added that the response to the opening of the Grand Mall and the medical clinic was very tumultuous and this was evident with the large turnout we have witnessed.
The West End park owned by Jassim Bin Mohammed Al Thani Social Welfare Fund (JBM), is a unique project developed by the State of Qatar in line with its vision 2030, to promote human development, economic & social growth along with environmental sustainability which aims to achieve the ingredients of a modern society pursued by the vision of His Highness the Emir, State of Qatar to secure higher standard of living, to encourage sports and recreation for the citizens and residents.
The Grand Mall Hypermarket, the first shopping facility in Qatar of the Dubai-based Regency Group, is built on an area of 10000 sqm, and will provide a unique shopping experience with all its world class amenities.
Regency Group operates 32 retail outlets in the GCC and India and plans to add more. In Qatar, it will open three more stores in a year and more are in the pipeline.
A major highlight of Grand Mall is its own Hypermarket. Spread over 8000 sq.metre and consisting of a world class Supermarket in the ground floor and a Department Store on the first floor, the mall provides all the leading brands of FMCG, clothing, fashion accessories, hand bags, footwear, leather products, luggage, furniture, electrical and electronic appliances, home appliances, besides all the glamorous garbs for the young and trendy.

There will be coffee shops with different blends and smell, to attract the crowd. A huge food court, with seating capacity of over 200, will welcome the visitors with global delicacies and will serve Arabic, Chinese, Turkish, Indian, Nepali Bangladeshi and Filipino cuisine and flavors at the first floor in its impressive dining hall.
Regency group has a strong team of over 4000 employees from different cultures and countries and is employing more than 400 staff in Qatar alone.
