Are you a serious coffee-lover or obsessed with the perfect, hot brew?

In this week’s episode of Mama Baba Ganoush I meet a true champion in the coffee world and, lucky for us, he’s based in Qatar! Arjem Prado is the Costa Coffee Barista of the Year for the MENA Region and was selected by judges in Dubai as the best MENA ambassador for the Costa Coffee brand.

Representing Costa Coffee Qatar, Arjem beat other contestants from the Middle East and North Africa to become the coveted title-holder, and the award recognizes Arjem as one of the most skilled baristas in the region, and globally.

Now in its 11^th year, the competition challenges baristas in a series of qualifiers starting in-store then progressing to area heats before being selected as the best barista in their country. Arjem wowed the judges by creating a full-range of Costa’s core hand-crafted coffees, creating the notoriously difficult Flat White to perfection and beating a timed demonstration for his signature creation – the Nutty Guava. Combining precision, creativity, speed, and personality, won Arjem the coveted title.

With approximately 2.500 baristas in the MENA region working across 370 stores, Arjem’s win is a huge personal achievement and a huge score for Costa Coffee Qatar! Congratulations to this FOOD HERO!
