The Al Barzan intersection in West Bay is getting the first traffic lights with a digital countdown facility. The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has installed the new traffic lights at the intersection on a trial basis. The facility, specially designed for Qatar can automatically adjust the timing according to the flow of traffic, said a senior Ashghal official. More traffic lights in the city will be provided with such digital timers, with priority being accorded to the most crowded junctions, said the official. Digital timers at signals make it easy for motorists appraoching intersections to regulate thier speed.
