Al Sharq newspaper reported on 27 March 2024 that exchange houses have begun increasing the fees for international transfers by QR 5 for each transfer to various countries across the world.

Al Sharq reported that exchange house officials have mentioned that the fee increase has been implemented after approvals, and this change is after 20 years of the fees remaining constant.

The increased fees have been implemented to help exchange houses cover costs incurred due to service expansion to meet the local market's demand while ensuring high-quality and competitive services are provided to customers.

Al Sharq newspaper also mentioned that according to Article 11 of Law No. (36) of 1995 regulating money exchange businesses, Qatar's central bank has the right to monitor, supervise, and direct money exchange houses, and it may request whatever information or data it deems necessary to obtain.
