Vodafone launched its new environmentally-friendly SIM Packs which will reduce the volume of plastic disposal in Qatar as well as Vodafone’s carbon footprint. Instead of plastic, the newly designed SIM card pack now uses polypropylene, a recyclable material, while the cardboard piece used to hold the SIM in place has now been substituted with recycled paper, making it 100 percent eco-friendly. The SIM box which is engraved with the unique Vodafone logo is slick, light, easy to store and is sized perfectly to be re-used by the customer to store their business cards. “At Vodafone Qatar we are always trying to develop products that respect the environment and which aim to make Qatar a greener country that will with time and commitment make a world of difference for all the people in Qatar,” said Phil Worsley, Head of Operations at Vodafone Qatar “We hope this will inspire many other companies and individuals in Qatar to take steps to protect the environment in Qatar,” continued Phil Worsley. These new environmentally friendly SIM packs are one of several Green initiatives Vodafone Qatar has undertaken. Other eco-friendly Vodafone materials include biodegradable scratch cards, which have been used by Vodafone since it launched prepaid services in September 2009. In February this year, Vodafone launched the first Mobile recycling programme in all its retail stores, and last month Vodafone started recycling all unused posters, flyers and brochures that become obsolete at the end of promotions.
