Dubai-based DM Healthcare has announced plans to open its first Aster Hospital project in Qatar by 2015. The hospital will offer the latest in technology and medical expertise to provide tertiary care services, the company said in a statement. It will be a 50 bed multi speciality hospital providing "unparalleled medical care and service", it added. Al Estiana Real Estate Development has been hired to build the hospital project which is slated to be completed and operational by the first quarter of 2015. Dr Azad Moopen, chairman and managing director of DM Healthcare said: "Our vertical Aster has grown over the last 25 years immensely across GCC and India. "We are wide-spread both in terms of reach as well services offerings and are pleased to take the expansion of our brand further with the venture of our first hospital project in Qatar. "We are committed to deliver quality healthcare affordable to the people through our wider networks across the region and thus become the market leader as per our vision 2015 and further 2025." DM Healthcare expanded their operations network to Qatar in 2003 and now operates six medical centres, six pharmacies and two diagnostic centres. DM Healthcare is planning to invest $300m in expansion plans across the GCC including a 100-bed multispecialty hospital in both Dubai and Sharjah in the UAE, due for completion in 2013 and 2014. Other investments include two greenfield sites and three acquisitions in Saudi Arabia over the next five years while it will also add 100 beds to its existing 240-bed general hospital in Riyadh. The company plans to hire 10,000 new employees over the next five years, taking DM Healthcare’s total headcount to more than 15,000. DM Healthcare is also looking at opportunities in the US, Europe, Egypt and Nigeria, which would mainly target medical tourism. Any potential deals in those countries would take place by 2017 at the earliest. http://www.arabianbusiness.com/dubai-health-firm-eyes-qatar-expansion-493210.html
