Doha Park with 35 amazing rides to open today

DOHA Park, with 35 amazing rides ranging from children specific games to fun events, will be opened to residents from Thursday. The 30,000 sq-metre festival park, located in the Doha Exhibitions Center complex, will remain open for six weeks. It will also offer a rich package of cultural events catering to all ages and nationalities. Twenty-four restaurants and 107 shops selling a variety of merchandise will complete the festival experience at the amusement facility organised by the Qatar Tourism Authority. Two tents will serve as the central sites for the major happenings. The tent for theatre will play live performances. It has a seating capacity for 1,100 visitors. While the tent dedicated to circus shows has a seating capacity of 1,500 people, which are categorised into normal, gold and VVIP seats. Tickets to the circus shows are priced at QR95 (normal), QR295 (gold) and QR495 (VVIP). Ferris wheel, roller coaster, mini scooters are among the amusement rides at the festival park. Out of the 35 featured rides, nine of them would be introduced to Doha residents for the first time. Ticket prices will range from QR5 to QR25 — depending on the rides. Carnival and circus shows, heritage folklores, competitions, Qatari folklore show, circus acts from Europe, Russia, Egypt and China as well as activities like face painting and henna, for children will be some of the daily events to watch out for. Isam Iowic, executive director of Doha Park said, “The exciting shows cater to the needs of the large expatriate population in Qatar, belonging to countries like Jordan, India, the Philippines, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria.” Iowic added the glitzy opening of Doha Park (at 6pm) will begin with a parade comprising carnival trailers from Corniche to the venue. The colourful procession will be led by Harley Davidson riders. Special shows will be staged to mark the official opening of the much-awaited amusement park.
