The Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) is organising an international seminar to discuss various changes affecting the Arab family brought about by population and demographic dynamics. The seminar will also assess policy implications of these changes.
Taking place in December, the seminar will bring together international, regional and national population scientists, policy-makers and researchers involved in the study of the Arab family.
The Executive Director of DIFI, Noor Al Malki Al Jehani, said: “Through organising this seminar, we will provide scientific evidence-based research that sheds light on the changes impacting the Arab family, to create a solid base for the policy-making process, which we believe will meet the needs of today’s Arab family. We trust these policies will assist the Arab family in fulfilling its role and contributing to the overall growth of the society.”
The seminar will address five main topics related to Arab families: Marriage and Family Formation; Trends and Patterns in Fertility and Family Size; Population Migration and the Family; Adolescents and the Family and, Inter-generational and Gender Issues Affecting Family Cohesion.
The seminar is expected to witness great interest from local, regional and international scientists. Scientists and researchers interested in presenting their work at the seminar are invited to submit an online proposal on the DIFI website by August 15. Submissions must include a short 250-word abstract and an extended abstract of about two to four pages, including tables/charts. Seminar will be held in Arabic and English. Abstracts and final papers may be submitted and presented in either language.
