Famous Australian Chef Mike Tafe (pictured) is in Doha to promote Australian cuisine and food products. To get a taste of these wonderful dishes by the super chef, head to Oryx Rotana. They are holding an Australian food festival with these fine products from Australia. As part of the promotion they will have a Steak Night on February 14 at Choices, and Chef’s Table on February 15 at the Cellar. Sydney-based chef Mike Tafe is a 30-year veteran of the food industry, many of those years spent as a chef in five Star hotels like the Regent, Sydney, Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt, and the Beverley Wiltshire Hotel, Los Angeles and then in his own restaurant in Sydney, The Red Centre. This is his second visit to Doha. He was here three years back. Chef Mike is the Corporate Chef for Mulwarra Export, one of the leading suppliers of premium Australian produce. Chef Mike has conducted Australian food promotions throughout South East Asia, North Asia, Europe and the Middle East for the past twelve years. Chef Mike is also the Managing Director of Sydney based Spice & Co. which both manufactures and distributes pure herbs, spices and spice mixes to both the retail and foodservice markets in Australia. “Australian cuisine has evolved from taking positive influences from other world cuisines. So we have a mix of many flavours. We have the finest ingredients available there. We also have one of the best beef and salmon in the market.” said the Chef Not many know that good Salmon comes from Australia. Usually salmon is linked to Norway.
