H.E. Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah asserted that the Israeli war in Gaza Strip has caused an unprecedented humanitarian and health disaster.

Her Excellency underscored ramping up real Arab and global pressure to enforce international law and the international humanitarian law to hold the Israeli occupation to account for the crimes and genocide being perpetrated against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, act seriously to cease the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and compel the occupation to get the humanitarian assistance into Gaza Strip without any restrictions.

This came during Her Excellency's visit to a group of wounded Palestinians from the Gaza Strip in Doha, during which she checked on their conditions because of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, wishing them a speedy recovery. The NHRC delegation accompanying Her Excellency offered gifts to the wounded Palestinians.

Al Attiyah praised the efforts of transferring nine batches of Gaza-wounded Palestinians to Doha, bringing the total number of those who have been transferred from the strip to more than 500 people within the framework of Qatar's commitment to treat 1,500 injured Palestinians due to the Israeli aggression, and sponsor 3,000 children who lost their parents in the Gaza Strip.

The war on Gaza should be a turning point to set an operational programme to help the Palestinian people practice their inalienable rights, represented in self-determination without foreign intervention, as well as national sovereignty and independence, Al Attiyah stressed.

She emphasized that the Israeli violations affected the entire strip and targeted the civilians, including children, women, journalists, ambulance personnel, health facilities, international, relief and humanitarian organizations, as well as schools and shelters, and prevented medical supplies and drinking water.

The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) under the chairmanship of Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah so far called for protecting the civilians, stopping the escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories, and providing urgent assistance to the population of Gaza Strip.

Al Attiyah lauded the efforts made by the Doha-based Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRIs), along with its regional and global action that was initiated by convening an emergency general assembly, the last one was the meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk which resulted in Turk's field trip to Rafah crossing point last month to inspect the humanitarian catastrophe and the flagrant violation of all human rights in Gaza Strip.
