Doha: Lekhwiya Stadium was officially inaugurated when the home team played Al Khor in their round 16 match in the Qatar Star League (QSL) on Friday. Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairman of Lekhwiya, and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, president of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) were present for the first match at the new venue. Lekhwiya, the winners of the two QSL titles in as many years, had been playing their home games at away venues for the last 24 months. The QSL defending champions will be playing their 2013 AFC Champions League games at the new stadium, officials confirmed on Saturday. Source - QatarChronicle
