In yet another remarkable achievement, Volvo was chosen as the official car for the recent wedding of Swedish Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel which drew international attention and huge local crowds in Stockholm. Celebrity and Royalty wedding guests from all over the world descended on Stockholm to participate in the festivities.
During the week of the wedding, the Royal Court contracted 85 specially designed Volvos as courtesy cars for the wedding guests. All cars were made to measure white Volvos, and an estimated 250,000 people lined the streets to watch the convoy proceed to the wedding venue. The live broadcast was viewed by 500 million TV viewers.
The models used at the wedding were the Volvo S80 and the Volvo V70. Following requirements from the Royal Court, all vehicles were equipped the fuel-efficient DRIVe configuration with carbon dioxide emissions below 120grams per km. The Volvos, in sparkling white livery (ice white), had royal wedding insignia on the sides as well as on the leather upholstery and sill covers. The bespoke design was chosen and approved by the bridal couple.
