ASTAD Project Management, Qatar’s leading project management consultancy for building and infrastructure, hosted a charitable blood donation campaign titled ‘A Gift of Life’ today.

The two-day initiative, which was held in partnership with the Blood Donation Unit of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), took place at ASTAD’s main headquarters in Al Dana Tower on Monday and at its site offices in Education City on Tuesday.

In keeping with ASTAD’s key objective to host numerous Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and to foster greater awareness about community engagement, many staff members were keen to contribute generously to the blood donation drive.

Ali Al-Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Astad Project Management, said, “Our aim at ASTAD is to contribute positively to society by organising a host of activities that bring substantial benefits to the community at large. We understand that despite the many advances in medicine, the only way we can ensure a constant and safe supply of blood is by volunteering and encouraging others to do the same. We are very proud of our staff at ASTAD for their benevolence and for taking responsibility as healthy individuals to help save the lives of others.”

Educational posters and leaflets were also distributed to educate participants about the various aspects and benefits of donating blood. Before any blood could be collected, the health history of each potential donor was carefully assessed by staff from HMC’s Blood Donation Unit. Volunteers also received a brief examination, during which certified nurses measured their temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and hemoglobin levels.

To showcase the importance of voluntary blood donation, participants proudly displayed their “I Gave Blood Today” pins as badges of honor and to highlight their compassionate involvement in saving lives and serving the community.

Alan Neil Marshall, Senior Building Services Engineer at ASTAD, wasted no time registering as a blood donor and was pleased that he was found to be a healthy volunteer. “I have been donating blood regularly for the last 10 years. With the shortage of blood supplies in Qatar it is imperative that people volunteer to help others in need”.

Similarly, Sara Al Mulla, a Senior Interior Designer at ASTAD, felt it was important to take a few minutes of her day and help make a significant difference to someone else’s life. “I was quite nervous at first as I’ve never donated blood before but it was a quick and painless procedure and I’m glad I could contribute to this humanitarian initiative.”
