More than 5,000 expatriate workers were regaled by ‘Eid Ka Chand’, a four-hour music and dance show featuring noted local artistes at Al Khor Sports Club on the first day of Eid al-Adha.
Hit songs in Malayalam, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Punjabi and Tamil languages and cinematic and Nepalese dances enthralled the audience, drawn mainly from the Northern areas of Qatar.
The event was organised jointly by the Community Policing Section of North Security Department and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior in association with Sameeksha, the art and cultural wing of Qatar Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC).
Inaugurating the programme, the Community Policing Section officer from North Security Department Lt Shaheen Rashid al-Atheeque al-Dosari congratulated the audience on the occasion of Eid al-Adha and thanked them for their active participation in the event.
“This is a gift from Ministry of Interior and from Qatar police for you who contribute to the development of Qatar and I wish you all the success. We have organised this programme to make you feel happy and enjoy the occasion of Eid al-Adha,” the official said.
Lt Shaheen al-Dosari also thanked and appreciated the officials of Qatar KMCC, the members of Sameeksha, members of Al Khor KMCC Committee and office bearers of Non Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) for their sincere support and immense interest in associating with the Ministry of Interior to organise the event successfully.
Co-ordinator of Community Reach Out Office at the Public Relations Department of Ministry of Interior Faisal al-Hudawi, MoI’s media researcher Niyaz Abdul Majeed, Qatar KMCC vice president Abdul Wahhab, general secretary Abdul Nasser Natchi and treasurer Thayambath Kunhali, Sameeksha president Iqbal Chettuwa, Al Khor KMCC Committee officer bearers Saidalavi, Abdul Kareem and Naseem Ansari and NRNA office bearers Teknath Baral, Kishor Sunuwar and Binesh Tamang also attended the opening ceremony.
On behalf of Sameeksha, famous local singers from Doha, Saleem Pavaratti, Noushad, Arya Krishnan, Nithin, Gayathri, Abhishek, Mohamed Eisa (Ali International) and Faisal Nallalam presented songs in Malayalam, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Punjabi and Tamil.
The performance of the artistes from Sariga musical troupe from Doha - Harib Hussain, Afasal Kollam and Fida Fathima - and a Nepalese dance presented by Sandhya group of NRNA were also among the key attractions of the show.
