Doha-headquartered Able International Group (FnB division) will continue to supply foodstuff to retailers in Qatar at the same rates with no increase in prices despite regional cargo movement control clamped last week.

AIG Chairman Saeed Saad R H Al Subaey said, “Under the wise leadership of His Highness The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Khalifa, we aim to do our best for the welfare of citizens and residents in Qatar. Our group remains committed to keep prices of foodstuff stable in Qatar’s local markets.”

AIG Managing Director Sidheek Purayil said, “We will not increase prices of foodstuff that AIG supplies to retailers in Qatar. Indulging in profiteering by compelling consumers to pay more goes against the basic teachings of Islam.”

FnB division officials’ comments and their decision not to increases prices of foodstuff follow the transport embargo against Qatar announced by Saudi Arabia and its regional allies last week.

Backing the chairman and managing director’s views, FNB Divisional Head Mohammed Mansoor said, “We assure citizens and residents that AIG supports the State of Qatar. We shall keep prices of our retail items constant. Increasing prices of foodstuff during the Holy Month of Ramadan is unthinkable. We stand firm in supporting the Government of Qatar in the current situation.”

AIG offers consumers buy-one-get-one free rice bag as proof of its commitment. “When a consumer buys one five-kilo basmati rice bag of Elate brand, we offer five-kilo long-grain rice bag complimentary. This offer will continue during the Holy Month of Ramadan and beyond Eid Al Fitr festival until stock lasts,” said Purayil.

“Our group grows each year since it entered Qatar market. Our corporate strategy insists on supplying high-quality products and services to consumers and clients. AIG’s food and Beverages division’s annual turnover of QR 50 million reiterates our growth and the trust of clients,” said Mansoor.

AIG Food and Beverage Division supplies food products to major retailers in Qatar. The list includes Grandmart, Ansar Gallery, outlets in various malls and neighbourhood grocery stores.
