700 Exhibitors join Project Qatar 2008

More than 700 exhibitors from 36 countries are participating in Project Qatar 2008, the region's largest building exhibition which was opened here yesterday by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture and Board Member of Ashghal, H E Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Khalifa Al Thani at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre. Also present at the opening ceremony were Engineer Zayed Al Khayarin, CEO of Ashghal, the Diamond Sponsor of the event, Rashid Al Sraiya Al Kaabi, Chairman of IFP Qatar and Albert Aoun, Chairman of IFP Group, the organisers of the fair, Qatar Tourism and Exhibition Authority CEO, Ahmad Al Nuaimi and a number of ambassadors accredited to Qatar. Sheikh Abdul Rahman toured the pavilions and invited participants to invest in Qatari projects, pointing to the government's strategy to attract investment in all sectors of the Qatari economy. He later told reporters that the event will contribute in introducing most advanced equipment and new technology in the construction sector in the country. He said the products on display would benefit both the private and public sectors. "I am pleased with the participation of some 700 companies from 36 countries from around the world. This is a huge number and the next exhibition, as organizers affirmed, is expected to be even bigger," said Sheikh Abdul Rahman. Al Kaabi said the Exhibition Centre was very cooperative in providing additional display area.
