As part of its efforts to streamline traffic in Doha, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced commencement of construction work to convert roundabouts on the Corniche and Markhiya streets to signalled intersections. Roundabouts that will be converted into signalled intersections upon completion of the project are: Museum of Islamic Arts Roundabout, Al Diwan Roundabout, National Theatre Roundabout, The National Library Roundabout, Wadi Al Sail Roundabout, Onaiza Roundabout and Lejbailat Roundabout. During the construction period, two lanes on all the affected roads in the above-mentioned areas will remain open to traffic in each direction in order to minimise disruption. “Construction work on the project is estimated to be completed by November 2013.
