Qatar Charity (QC) launched a project to distribute 50,000 food baskets to displaced people and host families affected by the current conflict in Sudan in the presence of HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Sudan Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al Sada and Acting Federal Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Ahmed Othman.
QC said in a statement that the project is funded by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) and will be implemented in several affected states for the benefit of the targeted and displaced people in conflict areas, as well as to contribute to bridging the existing gap with regard to food security in order to alleviate the suffering of the displaced and affected people in Sudan.
H.E. Ambassador Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sada said that the project to provide food baskets is an extension of Qatari assistance to the affected and displaced Sudanese brotherly people.
He explained that the project, which is carried out by QC and funded by the QFFD, will be implemented in a number of affected states in coordination with the Sudanese government for the benefit of the targeted and displaced people in conflict areas.
On his part, Acting Federal Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Ahmed Othman praised the QFFD, QC and all Qatari institutions that carried out major humanitarian interventions in this critical period that Sudan is going through.
In Sudan, the food baskets project is considered one of the distinguished humanitarian projects within the continuous humanitarian efforts of the State of Qatar, as it would cover many displaced people, host families and civilians who were exposed to the scourge of war, he added.
