The Ministry of Interior (MOI) on 31 August 2023, announced that the Criminal Investigation Department was able to arrest 3 people after they tried to sell large quantities of used gold jewellery without obtaining a permit to sell it from the competent authorities or proof of their ownership.
The Criminal Investigation Department was able to arrest (3) people of African and Asian nationalities after they tried to sell large quantities of used gold jewelry, without obtaining a permit to sell them from the competent authorities, or proof of ownership of them.

When confronted with this, they admitted that it was stolen, and sums of money were also found in their possession. The seized items were referred to the Public Prosecution to complete its procedures in this regard.
