Qatar's biggest indoor entertainment hub, the Summer Entertainment City (SEC), features over 140 retail shops—apart from the 75+ entertainment attractions at the humongous Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).

Organized by QSports, the 75-day event promises to be the biggest indoor entertainment facility in Qatar. In addition to the different gaming options, another worth-checking out area at the 29,000 m2 ground floor of the DECC is a premium shopping experience called 'Summer Shopping Souq.' And if you're a foodie, your taste buds will surely be satisfied as SEC is also blessed with more than 40 culinary outlets onboard.

QSports founder and Board Member Adil Ahmed said the souq is getting increasingly popular among visitors. "Besides, we have planned a campaign to promote the souq. Initially, this area did not attract large number of visitors as people had their own plans for Eid holidays, but it is picking up well now."

The 140 stalls feature an array of items such as perfumes, oils, spices, toys, clothes, accessories and paintings among others from different parts of the world, including Turkey, Kuwait, Yemen, Iran, Pakistan, India, Thailand and Lebanon.

Scroll down to know ILQ's Top 5 items that you can buy at Summer Entertainment City's promising Summer Shopping Souq!

1. Fabrics & garments

These colorful items are proven aplenty in most traditional shops especially when you're in the Middle East. The great thing about SEC's wide selection of fabrics and garments is they're mostly handmade. A stall which sells clothes from Thailand boasts an attractive display of products with prices ranging from 55 QR to 500 QR.

2. Paintings & artworks

Whether you're on the lookout for a unique and exquisite piece of art or the Emir's face splattered on high quality canvas, an aesthetically-inclined eye won't surely go wrong with SEC and its 3 to 4 art stalls which showcase the best of world art while not forgetting to give homage to the diverse culture of Qatar and the GCC region in general.

3. Jewelries

While majority of the golds and silvers displayed at SEC come directly from India, many more countries took part in displaying their intricately-designed jewelries to Doha and the rest of the world through SEC. One trader at Ala Kellah, which deals in gold plated ornaments such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets and tiara and pearls, said, "I came specifically from Kuwait for this exhibition."

5. Toys & handicrafts

Some of the cutest, most colorful, and believe us or not—most useful toys can be found inside DECC. Kids are one of SEC's main target audience that's why stalls which sells items that children of all ages (and perspective) will love are strategically distributed on the venue. An exhibitor from China, remarked, "The business here is good. Kids love our products, and when they demand their parents to buy them something, that's when the business skyrockets."

5. Spices & sweets

Food brings people together, right? In SEC's souq area, there's no other answer but YES as it houses countless stalls which sells homemade items such as olive oil, jam, chili sauce, and za'atar. Also, if you're a fan of dates, some food stalls are offering free taste on different varieties of our favorite sweet and the choices are unlimited! Watch out though, coz the next thing you might be bringing home is a bag full of tasty dates from all over the globe!

After shopping, make sure to also check out the world’s largest bouncy castle, a synthetic ice skating rink, bungee trampoline, 12 skill games, Qatar's biggest virtual reality setup, exciting rides, video games, live entertainment shows and many more!

With the goal of organizing and creating upscale events that meet international standards, SEC is already on its 5th year and is open daily from 2pm to 11pm. An individual entry ticket costs QR15 and a day pass is available for QR150. Individual game prices range from QR10 to QR35. The festival will continue until August 31.
