There are many reasons why The Oktoberfest at Intercontinental Doha The City is a must-do this weekend. But biggest of them all is the music band.

Harthauser Musi - an enterprising traditional bass and marching band is unmistakably the best music group to bring in the Bavarian vibe to this Oktoberfest. This bunch of friends that play under the 100-year-old band name (it was founded in 1907) wear traditional Bavarian clothes, sing Bavarian songs and bring a rhythmic bounce to the classic covers.

If you are not enjoying the delicious German sausages from the live stations, you will be moving with the music, voluntarily and involuntarily at times. Sing along to their covers of Summer of 69, Sweet Home Alabama and It’s Raining Men and shake your feet to the Y-M-C-A or the good ol birdie song. Who can resist that!

The ambience is nicely set up with long picnic benches that have blue chequered table cloth and makes up for the fact that we are missing the real Oktoberfest in Germany.

Some tips before you head there tonight:

  • Get there early to make sure you have your fill of food. The delicious sausages are quite popular and don’t last long.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. A train and the congo line are not the best things to do in heels.
  • Be prepared to groove to clarinets, trumpets, bugles, guitars, drums and accordions.
