As Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) gears up for its opening on March 22nd, organisers Qatar Tourism Authority and Qatar Airways have confirmed the participation of over 20 hotel establishments, a 20% increase from last year.

“The growing participation of hotels in this year’s QIFF reflects the growth in Qatar’s thriving hospitality sector, which welcomed an additional 20 establishments to its ranks in 2015 alone,” commented Mashal Shahbik, Director of Festivals and Tourism Events at QTA. “We are proud to work with our partners to share the wide range of gourmet food options available across Qatar’s hotels with visitors at this exciting festival.”

The hotel establishments will be among the 130 restaurants, eateries and food entrepreneurs set to participate in the seven day culinary celebration. Seasoned chefs will be offering fine dining opportunities to festival visitors at prices between QAR5 and QAR35.

"InterContinental Hotel Group Qatar is delighted to be able to present some of the best culinary offerings in Qatar at the Qatar International Food Festival, and to continue our collaboration with Qatar Tourism Authority in the successful development of the local food and beverage (F&B) scene,” commented Andreas Pfister, General Manager of InterContinental Doha and Area General Manager of InterContinental Hotels Group in Qatar. “We have especially designed the concept at our QIFF tent in order to offer Qatar residents and visitors to the Festival a genuinely unique and authentic experience."

QTA has also been working with investors to diversify Qatar’s hospitality portfolio and ensure its sustainability, by licensing an increasing number of 3- and 4-star hotels, as well as hotel apartments.

“It is an opportunity and a privilege for us to be part of this year’s Festival. We have always been a keen supporter of the initiatives of Qatar Tourism Authority in its efforts to promote the culture and diversity of Qatar. Our participation in QIFF is one of our many ways to further uphold the tourism industry and in this year’s QIFF edition, we will be introducing Meesh Me – Time Café, a unique coffee shop concept appearing for the first time in Qatar,” said Savino Leone, Crowne Plaza General Manager.

This year’s Festival promises to be the biggest yet with two new satellite venues, The Pearl-Qatar and Katara Cultural Village, joining the fun activities and tantalizing attractions at the main festival location in the Museum of Islamic Art Park.
