The capital of Qatar will host a unique performance of the famous Russian Mariinsky Theater, under the direction of Valery Abisalovich Gergiev, the brightest representative of the world-famous St. Petersburg conducting school and the famous artistic director of the group Eldar Aliyev with the production A Thousand and One Nights. The concerts will take place from December 5 to 8 at the QNCC at Al Mayassa Theatre. Rosneft, Russia's largest oil and gas company, is the general partner and sponsor of this event. The Mariinsky Theatre is one of the most prestigious and recognizable theaters in the world, and its tours are always of great interest to audiences. This time, the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will present a thrilling production of A Thousand and One Nights to audiences in Doha. The storyline of the ballet A Thousand and One Nights is based on the masterpiece of Persian and Arabian literature and is filled with the music of the creative genius of prominent Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov (1922–1984).
Amirov, enriched by his travels in Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, and Morocco and encounters with local traditions, infused the score with the authentic essence of Middle Eastern musical culture. An array of percussion instruments, including bongos, tam-tam, xylophone, vibraphone, drums, bells, cymbals, and gongs, along with the Azerbaijani stringed instrument tar, bring the richness of Arabic rhythm to life. Amirov, aspiring to global recognition for Azerbaijani music, skillfully wove Eastern melodies into classical European forms, reminiscent of the folk orchestra sounds from his youth.
The event will take place from December 5-8 at the QNCC Al Mayassa Theater, one of the most prestigious concert venues in Doha. The audience will be able to enjoy top-notch performances, stunning sets, and costumes, and feel the atmosphere of the mysterious Orient.
