The Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the launch of summer centres this year, starting from July 9, in 7 different educational and sports facilities nationwide. The centres last for 4 weeks and aim to positively invest students' time during the summer vacation, enhance their experiences and skills, and refine their personalities.

The Ministry targets public school students, boys and girls, and Qatari students from private schools. Each centre receives 400 students for 4 hours a day between 9 am and 1 pm, divided into three categories: children (7-11 years), adolescents (12-14 years), and youth (15-18 years). Each centre is equipped with trained administrative and educational staff and detailed regulations that clarify their tasks and responsibilities to manage and operate the centres with high efficiency throughout their work period until August 3.

The Ministry has allocated three centres for boys: Al Sadd Sports Club, Qatar Sports Club Center, Al Khor Sports Club Center, two centres for girls, um Abd Preparatory School Center for Girls, and Brook Primary School Center for Girls, in addition to two boys' centres run by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, namely Doha Youth Center at Al-Ahnaf Bin Qais Preparatory School for Boys, and Muaither Club Center at Imam Al-Shafei Preparatory School for Boys.

In addition to the prominent participation of the Ministry of Sports and Youth in organizing this year's summer centres, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Culture are participating in providing courses, facilities, and other necessary contributions for the success of the centres and the achievement of their goals to the fullest.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has identified many main objectives that it seeks to achieve through these centres, namely building the balanced personality of students in the light of the tolerant Islamic faith, supporting students' belonging to the country, its leaders, scholars, and society, introducing them to the country's institutions and facilities, developing the spirit of preserving them, in addition to discovering and refining students' talents, strengthening their experiences, developing their various skills, protecting them from the harmful effects of vacuum, and training them to assume responsibility and social participation.

The activities implemented at the centres also took into account Qatar's focus areas and strategic plans to create interest among students in these areas that are important to the future of the country, including the environment and sustainability, entrepreneurship, science and technology, digital manufacturing and several other skills necessary to build a knowledge-based economy.
