Qatar pledges usd 20 million to support uns global fund for education

Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) granted USD 20 million in support of the efforts of the Education Cannot Wait (ECW), a UN's global fund to support education in emergencies and protracted crises, in favour of projects jointly agreed with the Educate A Child (EAC) program of the Education Above All Foundation (EAA), HE Director General of the QFFD Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari announced on Thursday.

Addressing the ECW High-Level Financing Conference (HLFC), which kicked off today in Geneva, His Excellency hailed education as the momentum to level up humanity, the basis of human and economic developments and a key to a fair and peaceful future for all, stressing the importance of swift collective action by all world leaders to help turn 222 million dreams into reality.

CEO of Education Above All Foundation Fahad Al Sulaiti said that cooperation would guarantee that all children, particularly those in marginalized communities and hard-to-reach ones, are enrolled in education. He added that high-quality education is the engine of human development, which is essential for reducing inequality, promoting well-being, and building lasting peace and security.

For this reason, he added that the EAA aspires to work in partnership with the QFFD and the ECW Fund to avoid leaving any child behind.

The joint efforts of the QFFD, EAA and ECW, along with other contributors, will improve the conditions for education worldwide.

The grant aims to help children worldwide who are denied their right to education due to crises, including wars, disasters and displacement. The ECW will present a four-year strategic plan for 2023-26 to help meet the needs of 222 million children and adolescents.
