The Friends of the Environment Center called on all school students as they return to their classrooms at the beginning of a new academic year, to increase environmental awareness and preserve the environment and maintain its components for a safe and sound environment.

Executive Director of Friends of the Environment Center Farhoud Rashed Al Hajri said that since its inception in 1992, the centre has been full of new scientific, recreational and environmental activities. He called on everyone to protect the environment and coexist with it and save it for future generations, as an Islamic religious duty.

Al Hajri stressed the need to develop a good behaviour of students towards the environment, urging to raise their awareness about the vast environmental culture.

Al Hajri explained that the centre will develop a clear strategy for a range of programs and activities for the Qatari schools for the benefit of students, especially as it attaches great importance to schools through the organization of an annual competition between them to achieve the best garden. He added that the centre conducts research and studies in cooperation with some schools, to share its expertise with schools in the field of environmental research, to achieve integration between its objectives and schools in terms of studying the elements of the environment and its protection. He said that the centre is open to all schools in the field of research, studies, activities and environmental programs for the benefit of students.
