AFG College and the University of Aberdeen held the graduation of students who completed their study programs here in Qatar. The event was held to recognize the years of hard work and dedication of students from several programs offered at the campus in Doha.

The ceremony was a grand celebration that was attended by several dignitaries from across the local and international spectrum, including Sheikh Nawaf Bin Nasser Al Thani, Chairman of NBK Holding, Sheikha Anwar Bint Nawaf Al Thani, CEO of Al Faleh Educational Holding, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar and other dignitaries.

Students and honored guests were joined by representatives from the University of Aberdeen, AFG faculty, staff, parents, and graduates' families and friends. The ceremony was officiated by Professor George Boyne, University of Aberdeen Principal & Vice-Chancellor, who had traveled from Scotland to be part of the illustrious celebration.

The occasion offered the audience an opportunity to reflect on the hard work of those graduating, who included an array of students from a range of nationalities and cultural backgrounds. This truly demonstrated the global reach of the quality education offered at AFG College.

AFG College CEO, Sheikha Anwar bint Nawaf Al Thani said:

“It is always such an honour and privilege for me to witness the graduation ceremony of our graduates, who have all worked tirelessly to complete their qualifications. As we gather here today, it is important that we congratulate the graduates, whilst appreciating the encouragement they have received from their families and guests who have supported them during this extraordinary journey. I am confident that each of those crossing the stage today will go on to future success, and I wish them all the best in their future careers and endeavours, whether it be here in Doha or overseas.”

University of Aberdeen Principal & Vice-Chancellor, Professor George Boyne said:

“It is always a huge pleasure to be in Qatar to celebrate the achievements of our excellent students studying in Doha. Graduation celebrations are a time for family and friends to come together to recognise the hard work and commitment that our Graduands have shown as they embark on their next chapter. I send my very best wishes to the class of 2023 and warmly welcome them to the international family of University of Aberdeen alumni.”

The ceremony referenced the ancient rituals and culture of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, whilst embracing the traditional Qatari heritage, which included a recital from the Holy Quran. The ceremony concluded with emotional and uplifting speeches by cohort representatives who were able to reflect on their individual journeys and encourage the graduating cohort to go forward and be a force for positive change within society.

AFG College with the University of Aberdeen is a unique partnership between Al Faleh Group for Educational and Academic Services, Al Faleh Educational Holding subsidiary, and the University of Aberdeen. The University of Aberdeen is the UK’s fifth oldest university, founded in 1495. Establishing this partnership is a significant achievement for Al Faleh Educational Holding since the University of Aberdeen is the first British university to open a campus in Qatar in 2017 and offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
