Gaming in Qatar has seen a steady rise, especially in the past few years as more and more gaming-related events and tournaments are taking place. Qatar-based content creators have been taking an active role in the gaming scene here, one of whom is Jack AlBlushi who is a streamer, esports tournament caster, and co-founder of DarkCube Esports.
JA: Hello this is Jack Al Blushi, I am one of the streamers for PUBG mobile, Apex Legends and more games in the future. I’ve been casting for tournaments as well at the same time and I’m the co-founder of DarkCube Esports, which is an Esports organization that hosts and manages events.
JA: I started gaming at the age of 5 and for me, my first console was a SEGA. I used to be amazed by the graphics and the way the game characters moved by taking your instructions through a controller. The first game which really made me stick to the screen was Mortal Kombat, it is a type of 1v1 fighting game.
I mostly play battle royales, multiplayer, and adventure games namely Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Genshin Impact, Super Mario Odyssey etc.
JA: PUBG Mobile has made things really good for me as the idea of casting would never come if there was no PUBG today, my perspective changed with gaming since the introduction of PUBG because I was a gamer before and I am a gamer now, the difference is that I earn through gaming now.
JA: DarkCube is an esports gaming tournament organization and it has been active for the last 3 years in making 21 successful PUBG mobile tournaments. We are a number of 8 dedicated gamers who came together to create an org where the players are recognized through tournaments and leagues.
It started when I realized that we are lacking competition while we play PUBG mobile every single day without getting recognized for our in-game skills and tactics. I gathered a team of 3 members (founders) and we planned our ways to reach the GCC community where we received an outstanding response from most of the teams.
JA: DarkCube is planning to expand in Qatar for now as we have seen a surge in esports events which of course will be beneficial for our future standings. After our Qatar expansion, we will be reaching out to the bigger communities to bring in esports players to play in our events whether online or LAN events.
JA: I would like to see LAN events where the gamers come together and interact. Other than that I would love to see if the local gaming talents are recognized as this is the only way to boost the local gaming talents.
JA: Do what you love, do not push yourself into a game or a hobby where you think that there is money or fame because you might end up unhappy. But when you do something you love in gaming and you stream it, there is the happiness of pure gaming and at the same time you might reach greater heights through the support of the community.
JA: The gaming community in Qatar is getting a boost but I feel like some local talents like us are still trying to stand and glow in the dark, where I feel that the support is less from the local companies/sponsors. If you want to bring esports and huge gaming events, first you need to find it within the community. Expecting a surge of events in the coming days and I really hope that things will turn in our favor and support.
