Qatar Foundation (QF) has commemorated World Autism Awareness Day – an initiative proposed by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, to the United Nations in 2007, and first marked in 2008 – by lighting up the 2015 building (QF Headquarters) in blue, through an initiative sponsored by Renad Academy, a specialized school under the umbrella of QF’s Pre-University Education (PUE).

As part of an awareness campaign by Renad Academy and PUE, the building at Education City was illuminated in the color that represents World Autism Awareness Day – which fell on April 2 – on Tuesday evening. It will continue to be lit in blue until April 4.

In line with this campaign, Renad Academy is continuing to run the Nadi Al Asdeqa (QAS-Renad Friendship Club), under whose name the lighting-up initiative was sponsored under.

Nadi Al Asdeqa is a collaborative mentorship program between Renad Academy and Qatar Academy Sidra (QAS), which is also a school under the PUE umbrella. It provides QAS students with the opportunity to become peer mentors for students from Renad Academy, engaging them in social outings to learn about diversity and positive relationship-building.
