The GCC Bike Show, which will be held on January 17 in Doha, aims to raise QR80,000 for charity, the organisers said yesterday.
The proceeds will go to Hamad Medical Corporation’s Kidney Bank and Qatar Red Crescent. A large number of bike riders from the GCC countries are expected to participate in the show.
The show will start with a bike parade. Nasser Mansour from Qatar Awareness Group said the bike parade will start from the Torch Hotel at 1pm. It will go around the Aspire and move through the Corniche and reach back at the hotel at 2pm.
The event will continue with various entertainment activities at the Aspire Zone Foundation until 9pm. The bike show will start at 2pm. “The bike show will be in 20 separate categories. A trophy will be awarded to the selected bike in each category.”
The 20 categories are Sportster, Dyna, Softail Classic, Softail Custom, Touring, V-Rod, Vintage, Metric, Touring Metric, Chopper, Bobber, Bagger, Radical, Super Sport, Street Fighter, Hayabusa, Best of Show, Best of Paint, Genuine and Spider Can-am.
More than 600 motor bikers from all over GCC and Qatar have already registered and confirmed their participation for the charity parade. Each biker contributes a fixed amount to take part in the parade and has to pay another amount if they wish to participate in the bike show. Over 45 motor bikers have confirmed their participation in the bike show. Some of the motorbikes are valued at QR500,000.
The event is supported by the Ministry of Interior, Aspire Zone Foundation, Hamad Medical Corporation’s Kidney Bank, Qatar Red Crescent, The Torch hotel, Holiday Villa Hotel, Mayfair Events, Qatar Racing Club, Qatar Awarness, Love Gifts Events, Qatar Photographic Society and Awtaar Qatar.
