Richard Banks specialises in Middle East business development for financial institutions and corporates. He is a partner at Soling Partners LLC, a boutique advisory firm advising clients on their Middle East business development and capital raising strategies.
He currently advises a group of blue-chip global asset managers with more than US$ 2trn of assets under management. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Lincoln College International – a UK company with substantial investments in the GCC education sector - and a Strategic Adviser to M7 Real Estate Investment.
After graduating from Oxford University with a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, Richard worked with a number of companies before joining Euromoney Institutional Investor in 1995. He specialised in the Middle East from 2002, establishing a joint venture with Euromoney, and developing their regional business. Richard stepped back from leading the joint venture in early 2016 and remains a senior adviser to Euromoney.
Dr Leonie Lethbridge is Chief Operating Officer and Executive General Manager at Commercial Bank, Qatar. Leonie brings deep transformation and innovation capability to the role and has oversight of Commercial Bank’s innovation entity – CB Innovation Services. Dr Lethbridge’s leadership experience also extends to Board roles, including as a member of the Board of Directors at Alternatif Bank and Alternatif Lease company, in Turkey.
Leonie joined Commercial Bank in July 2017 from ANZ Royal Bank, the leading international bank in Cambodia, where she served as Chief Executive Officer from 2016 to 2017. In her 15 years at ANZ, Dr Lethbridge served in senior roles across developed and emerging markets, including as a CEO, COO and CRO.
Dr Lethbridge was previously a management consultant, advising clients in the financial services, manufacturing and telecommunication sectors. Her career includes executive roles in the manufacturing industry in Australia and Asia in a range of organisations. She has also acted in numerous advisory positions for government and private sector organisations.
She holds a PhD from the Swinburne University of Technology and a Master’s Degree in Applied Science from RMIT University.
A 25-year investment industry veteran, Akber Khan has headed up asset management at Al Rayan Investment (ARI) since 2009. ARI is a 100%-owned subsidiary of Masraf Al Rayan. At ARI, Akber and his team manage more than $1.5 billion of assets, invested in Sharia-compliant, Gulf-listed equities and global sukuk.
This includes the Qatar Stock Exchange-listed Al Rayan Qatar ETF (QATR), one of the world’s largest Sharia-compliant equity ETFs, and the Al Rayan GCC Fund, one of the region’s largest Islamic GCC funds. Before ARI, Akber was a director at Deutsche Bank in London, where he spent more than 11 years in European and emerging market equities in trading and research roles.
Akber graduated from University College London having read history and economics. He has lived in Doha, Dubai, Frankfurt, Karachi, and London.
Basil Bachos is UDC’s Residential Sales Director, where he oversees the sales, marketing, and revenue management of UDC’s rich portfolio of premium residential properties at The Pearl and Gewan Islands.
Throughout his 11 years of experience, Bachos gained specific expertise in building the Sales Department’s organizational capacity through formulating strategies directed at optimally achieving commercial objectives and increasing profitability, as well as developing sales and leasing pricing structures, managing property handover process, and designing in-house financing facilities among others.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Lebanese American University.
