With the goal of empowering health enthusiasts and keep-fit fanatics in the country with an extensive platform – and a challenging environment – that promotes health, fitness, well-being and community, Qatar’s one-of-a-kind Box ‘T23’ (CFTXXIII) will be opening its doors to The Pearl residents and all surrounding communities this coming January.

The upcoming fitness venue will prepare trainees for any physical contingency, by giving them the chance to experience the energy, the challenge, and most importantly the high levels of encouragement and teamwork that will build their strength, enhance agility, and push each individual to achieve their very best, through an all-inclusive regimen (known as CrossFit) that forges the best aspects of gymnastics, powerlifting, weightlifting, running, rowing and much more, in a designated space referred to as a Box – and not the average gym.

“T23 is very different from any other commercial gym, and not just because you won’t find any elliptical machines, weight machines or Zumba classes, but rather because we are dedicated to creating better athletes and healthier individuals. Above anything else, T23 is a community-driven box where standards for ‘Elite Fitness’ are upheld through proper coaching, strong programming, and adherence to CrossFit benchmarks and principles”, Luke McKimm, Senior Trainer at T23, said.

“We drive the feeling of team work and camaraderie, and every decision we make here is for our members. Which is why we have the courage to try new things and change it up as we strive for excellence. Another aspect of putting our members first and foremost is ensuring their safety at all times, which is maintained by properly identifying any hazards that might affect ones safety and taking the necessary measures. And if any of our members or coaches are ever in need, we will come together to lend a helping hand”, he added.

T23 brings to Qatar the masterful art and sophisticated science of CrossFit; an all-embracing fitness practice supported by measurable, observable and repeatable results.

At its core, CrossFit revolves around performing extremely varied functional movements at high intensity. Each day, a challenging workout tests a different part of the trainee’s functional strength or conditioning, not specializing in one particular thing, but rather with the goal of building a body that’s capable of practically anything and everything.

Previous research has shown high intensity interval training (HIIT) to significantly improve cardiovascular fitness, blood pressure, and body fat after just ten weeks of a workout regimen composed of 25-minute workouts conducted three times per week. CrossFit remarkably takes those results to the next level.

In a recent scientific experiment, researchers at Ohio State University assigned 54 healthy participants to a five-day-per-week CrossFit-based exercise program that lasted ten weeks. According to the findings, the 43 participants that completed the program saw incredible improvements in measures of aerobic fitness and body composition, with maximum aerobic capacity growing by 13.6% for men and 11.8% for women.

At the same time, male participants' body fat decreased from 22.2% to 18% and female participants' fell from 26.6% to 23.2%. Both men and women also enjoyed significant increases in lean muscle mass. When the results were broken down across participants' initial fitness levels, recorded figures proved that CrossFit significantly helped people of all shapes and sizes see tremendous physical improvements.

McKimm’s explanation for those remarkable results are simple: “CrossFit’s varied functional movements are the core movements of life. The program truly conditions Gym-goers not only for the unknown, but for the unknowable too. Surprisingly, we achieve that while giving our members total peace of mind, knowing that they always have a coach with them during every workout, to maintain safety, offer advice and encourage them throughout.”

“At T23, we believe that you possess everything it takes to succeed, but you will have to work hard to achieve your goals. Dedication to perseverance will lead to greater success sooner. Eat clean, train hard and get results”, McKimm concluded.
