Creating art, whether through painting, pottery, or sculpture, has proven to have a positive impact on an individual’s mental state. Studies show that people feel more involved and less anxious when being actively creative. JOALI Maldives is one of the first immersive art resorts in the Maldives, where the magical scenery allows guests to tap into a creative side as a means to relax and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit. This year, the ultra-luxury resort has partnered with renowned art consultant and curator Tatiana Gecmen-Waldek to bring a collection of experiences for guests to enjoy, including an art festival.

Through her artistic flair, as well as a strong network of galleries, collectors, auction houses and contemporary artists, the Austrian-born Tatiana Gecmen-Waldek will be discovering, presenting, and commissioning contemporary artists for JOALI Maldives, who will be bringing their work to the island at regular intervals over the coming year in the form of exhibitions, limited editions, or permanent installations. Gecmen-Waldek has worked with the likes of Giorgio Armani, Etro, Roger Vivier, Cartier, Maison Kitsuné, Tods and many more.

To commemorate the commitment to art and sustainability, and in collaboration with Tatiana Gecmen-Waldek, JOALI Maldives will host the inaugural Imagi-Nature Art Festival which will take place from 14 to 18 April, where guests are invited to get creative and participate in a wide range of activities. On 15 April, guests can celebrate World Art Day with a lineup of special events, where artists from all over the world, who create with nature conservation and sustainability in mind, will be invited to the island to create bespoke pieces inspired by the surrounding nature, with each immersive artwork created to engage, ignite, and free the imagination.

JOALI Maldives is committed to environmental protection and the local population through various projects, but truly highlights this through their art; each piece of art at the resort is unique, but they are all united by a commitment to sustainability. Many pieces are made from recycled waste, clay or other natural materials and inspire a more sustainable lifestyle.

Curated for adventurers, dreamers and storytellers, Imagi-Nature Art Festival presents an opportunity to fully experience art in all its glory. For more information on embracing creativity with JOALI, please visit joali.com.
