Adel Al Ansari is a Qatari actor; he's been acting from the time he was five-years-old and he's been shining like a star since. He did face some challenges when he started as an actor because people thought this wasn't really a career, but Adel is a big believer of following one's dreams and doesn't believe in giving up. He believes that if someone wants something they should aim for it. He did, and he got where he wanted to be!
Adel was born in Qatar and went to school at Athman Ben Affen Elementary and Ahmed Ben Hambal High School in Doha. He graduated from Qatar University with a degree in Architecture and also gained a degree from Beirut Arab University in History, but acting is how he really expresses himself artistically and emotionally.
Adel, whose birthday is on 15 May, started his acting career with a children’s show called "Ya Hala" on Qatar TV. He then acted in a play "Who Finally Laughs" at the Doha Players Theatre, before going back to TV and "Dohat Al Asdika" (‘Garden of Friends’), which ran for nine years on a local channel.
He has appeared in a number of plays and TV shows and also been part of many advertising campaigns for big organisations in Qatar like Qatar National Bank and Primary Health Care Corporation (Bowel Cancer Screening Awareness Ambassador and Key Endorser).
Acting is his passion and in an interview with Doha Film Institute (DFI) he described why he loves acting so much:
"After my first acting role, I felt as if there was something magical in it and I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to keep doing. There’s something in acting that captures me and makes me want to improve myself."
He has also acted and produced plays like "Rehlet Abbooda" and "Abbood Fee School". One major highlight of his acting career was when he played the lead role in the opening ceremony for the Doha Asian Games in 2006 (DFI):
"It was an honour to be representing Qatar, and I was absolutely thrilled that I was picked for such a glorious event. What makes it even more important is that it took place in my own country. It was a significant moment for me, and made me very proud."
Adel also doesn't believe that one should make concessions when it comes to quality in playing a role, and that's why he doesn't rush into accepting every acting job offered and takes his time in selecting which roles he wants to do.
Adel loves playing roles that have three dimensions, that show his abilities and talents, and that have a purpose. At the same time, he enjoys roles you can mould into something more.
Adel loves show business, but he's also a practical young man, and that's why he also has a job as the Head of Events and Theatre Director for Katara Cultural Village since 2009. He does acting part-time now because (DFI):
"To have a job on the side is a must, as everyone has to survive!"
