Rules for Indians for visa-free arrival to Qatar

India is one of the countries on this list who is eligible for on arrival visa to Qatar. Ministry of Interior has updated rules recently for visa-free entry for Indians. According to the new rules, starting from 11 November, 2018, nationals of India can obtain on-arrival tourist visa facility spend up to 30 days in Qatar which is not extendable. Previously Indians could extend the visa and stay in Qatar for a total of 60 days.

In addition to that, it is now mandatory for the applicant to possess a valid credit card or debit card in the name of the traveller or in the name of the male head of the family.

Qatar was ranked as the most open country in the Middle East and 8th most open country in the world following the initiatives of visa facilitation measures introduced by the country. Nationals of 80 countries are now eligible for a visa waiver and can enter Qatar without requiring any prior visa arrangements. As a result, Qatar’s openness score had leaped by 71.3 points since 2014, when it ranked 177th. Indians were among the six major visitors to Qatar according to the statistics from the Ministry released in April 2018.

Terms & Conditions for on arrival visa

According to the Ministry of Interior, you have to meet the following terms and conditions to be eligible for the on-arrival visa.

  • Passport must be valid for at least six months from the arrival date.
  • Confirmed Return ticket.
  • Hotel reservation is mandatory even though the applicant has a relative or friend here in Qatar.
  • Applicant must be in possession of a valid credit card or debit card (mandatory to present a valid credit card/debit card in the name of the traveler, for the family's only for the paterfamilias).
  • The duration of the visa cannot be extended beyond 30 days.
