What is Expo 2023 Doha?

Expo 2023 Doha is Qatar's most anticipated event for the year 2023. The event is a premier horticultural exposition that is expected to see a total of 3,000,000 visitors, inclusive of tourists, residents, students, dignitaries and exhibitors.
Exhibitors from all across the world are expected, and there are a total of 57 who have registered already, with many more expected.
The many highlights of the expo will include the Congress Center for conferences, the Exhibition Center, a Family Amphitheatre, indoor dome gardens, a cultural bazaar, a farmers market, and so much more.
Expo 2023 Doha will be taking place from 2 October 2023 to 28 March 2024 at Al Bidda Park.
What is the Expo 2023 Doha volunteering programme?

The Expo 2023 Doha volunteer programme is designed to bring people of diverse backgrounds together to support delivering a great and memorable experience at this large-scale event.
The programme is looking at taking on a total of 2,200 volunteers.
Who can apply to be a volunteer at Expo 2023 Doha?

You must be 18 years old and above (at least by 1 September 2023).
You must be available to volunteer 7 - 8 days per month for the full duration of the event (6 months).
You hold a positive attitude and are motivated to help people.
You are legally residing in Qatar.

The different functional areas you can volunteer within

There are 11 different functional departments that you could potentially be volunteering in with different roles.
The departments & respective roles are as follows:
Accreditation - The Accreditation volunteers are responsible for the areas that are not accessible to the general public and for ensuring that those that can access them have the designated accreditation passes based on their role.
Role: Accreditation Volunteer
Ceremonies - The Ceremonies volunteers will be involved with the execution of all the ceremonies that will be delivered as part of the Expo, inclusive of the opening, closing and even national day ceremonies.

Ticketing - Ticketing volunteers will be responsible for facilitating the ticketing and accessibility of the visitors to the various venues of the event.

Events & Cultural Experience - The events & cultural experience team will participate in delivering various entertainment experiences in the form of concerts, parades, stage performances, roaming acts and others.

Health & Safety - Health & Safety Volunteers will work to identify potential hazards and reduce risks by setting out protocols to prevent any problems.

Language Services - The language services will be responsible for facilitating clear communication between attendees, staff, and participants through the processes of translation, interpretation, proofreading and other required assistance.

Media & Broadcast - Media Volunteers will be supporting the overall operations of the media by helping with site operations, managing the media, setting up facilities & others.

Participant Operations - The Participant Operations Volunteers will be taking care of the participants, who are the international representatives and exhibitors, by providing them with complete assistance, managing their pavilion visitor flow and other required assistance.

Protocol Services - The Protocol Services team is responsible for ensuring the visit experience of VVIPs, VIPs, and international dignitaries is seamless and is met with hospitality and efficiency along with any other required support.
Role: Protocol Volunteer & Protocol Team Leader
Visitor Services & Experience - The Visitor Services & Experience team will ensure the delivery of a comprehensive visitor experience by making sure guests receive the required information and assistance. Furthermore, tasks could include crowd management, mobility services, tour guides for the schools and more.
Role: Info Desk Volunteer, Mobility Volunteer, School Programme Volunteer
Workforce - The workforce team has the responsibility of making sure that the volunteers and staff are facilitated with all they need and have the support they require to deliver their roles. Additionally, they will be responsible for tasks like managing workforce operations and distributing uniforms, along with many other functionalities.

Fill in the application form with the following:
Personal details (as per Qatar ID/Passport)
Upload a photo to be used as your account profile picture & accreditation (ID style photo in jpg/png form and not a file size larger than 4 MB).
Upload details of official documents like Qatar ID, driving license & others.
Enter emergency contact details.
Provide qualification details.
Provide any details of previous volunteer experience (In this section, you can specify your Expo 2023 Doha volunteering role preferences based on the descriptions and functionalities).
Confirm your availability to volunteer for the event (6 months/7-8 shifts a month/preferred shift).
Once the application form is complete, you will be notified that you have completed the first step of your 'volunteering journey', and if your application progresses, you will be invited to a short face-to-face interview.
